Subsidies for providers

Applying for funding as a provider: The facts

A woman sits at her laptop and raises her index finger in the air. Next to her is a lucky lightbulb and a to-do list, on which one item has already been checked off.

The Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation supports non-profit organizations that aim to enable low-income families in Bremen to participate in recreational activities. The foundation's grants are therefore to be used for these families and/or their children.

There are two different funding options for both family recreation and children's and youth recreation:

  • Lump sum application (for measures under 10 days)
  • Individual funding (for measures lasting 10 days or more)

The procedure is the same for family and youth recreation.

The organization implementing the project submits an informal application to the foundation: Please use your official letterhead and provide the following information on one DIN A4 page:

  • How long does the free time last?
  • Where are we going?
  • How many people of what age can participate?
  • Your bank details

In addition, please submit a preliminary cost and financing plan. The income figures must include a contribution from the families themselves.

The recipient is the administration of the Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation.

Once you have the relevant information for your family or youth recreation program, please complete the application form for providers and send it to the administration of the Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation. Registrations for the program are not required at the time of submission.

Depending on whether your activity is for family recreation or youth recreation, please fill out additional documents:

For family recreation

Once families have registered, they must submit the completed application form , along with copies of their income statements, to the foundation. The families will then be informed in writing about the amount of the grant awarded

For youth recreation

In the case of youth recreation programs, you, as the organizer, determine the amount of funding in advance. Please submit the amount of funding awarded and the names of the participants to us on the application for funding for planned youth recreation programs.

After the program has ended, we will also require proof of participation in the subsidized recreational period. This proof should detail who actually received how many subsidies. Sometimes participants drop out shortly before the program begins; in such cases, the already approved subsidies can be transferred to other participants, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

The board of the Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation typically decides on the amount of the grant within two weeks. You will then receive written notification of the approval. A maximum of one-quarter of the total costs will be covered. Two weeks before the start of the trip, the grant will be transferred to the account you specified in your application.

The subsidies will be transferred directly to you as the sponsoring organization two weeks before the start of the recreational program.

Immediately after the end of the recreational program, the following documents must be submitted to the administration of the Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation:

  • brief factual report on the recreation measure
  • corrected cost and financing plan
  • The supporting document with the names of all participating persons who received a grant.
